Update

OK, its not the best picture. Can you see her nails??

A better update.

Fake Nails

Like many of you, I have a few serious fashion pet-peeves: leggings as pants, hair clips (or "animal" clips), and fake nails. Don't get me wrong, I did the 90's look complete with the bright colored, long "tips" with some sort of airbrush palm tree or something. I even used to get my ring finger nails pierced with a little charms hanging from them! Scary. This is 2007 and I really don't want the fake nail look to come back. Did anyone see Hillary Duff on the Today show this morning? It was a great performance (I love her) and her dress was amazing and her hair color is a shade of brown I would die for. I even like her ghetto fab earrings that she has been wearing lately. I did not like her long fake nails with gold tips. It was just WAY too much. Well, even by themselves I would hate them. I'll try to get a picture later if you missed it.

What to wear?

We have talked about this before: dressing for guys/girls. To get right to the point, I have a slight crush and its fun because I am actually caring about what I wear. He's moving back to LA soon so I don't really have a chance but aside from that I am planning my outfits. I know that guys love me in high waisted, more menswear-ish stuff so I'll probably be rocking that tomorrow. I was wondering: what's your go-to come-hither look?

Rescue Me

I'm having nasal surgery in less than a month (fun!) and I am looking to buy/rent some DVDs to watch in bed. I'm into TV shows at the moment but I watch so many already. Rescue Me was on sale and that is supposed to be good so I'm saving that. Does anyone have any ideas? I have never seen Lost, but it doesn't seem that interesting. Maybe I would like it. I have seen all of Grey's, Ugly Betty, House, 24, Queer as Folk, ext. So, any other ideas? Anything that you can't wait to run home and watch?

DI-Myself?

I can put an outfit together like nobody's business, but when it comes to actually sewing, I take my fallen off buttons and too long pants to the cleaners across the street. Its kind of embarrassing. So, when my dad said he sent me a Hilary '08 T-shirt I was super excited and planning a cute outfit with it. That's when I opened the box and saw how huge it is-all XL of it. (Thanks Dad. Trying to tell me something?)

My question is, does anyone know an easy DIY way to turn this shirt into something actually cute? Quickly, before I belt it and wear is super 80's!

My love.

You guys know how obsessed with Mika I am. I'm really not a fanatical person but I can't help it in this case. On Friday, "Join Mika after his concert at The Nokia Theater. The fun continues at The Theaters at 45 Bleecker, 45 Bleecker Street at Lafayette Street, 1 block above Houston." LIFEbeat The Music Industry Fights AIDS is throwing the bash and its only $10! Not only do you get to see Mika, the admission goes to LIFEbeat (not to mention free martinis all night.) Go to http://www.lifebeat.org/news.cfm/news/61 for tickets.

If you'll be in NYC, I'll see you there!

I AM a plastic bag.

The $15 Anya Hindmarch bag has the world going crazy. Its a really great idea. I take a bag to the store with me so I don't waste plastic ones and hopefully more people will. BUT don't get it just because its super trendy right now. On my way to Pilates, I saw a girl using the bag as a purse AND also carrying a real plastic bag full of stuff. No words.

Don't believe everything you read.

Its weird that we were talking about it because I got an email yesterday from textinthecity.com about online dating. I'm not sure I'm agreeing with..well, any of it. Or maybe I'm in denial. What do you think?

1. Don't waste time on the phone or online with your new cyber guy. Meet him as soon as possible in person to see if there is chemistry.
2. Narrow your search to exactly what you are looking for. Do not compromise when someone is showing interest that doesn't match your dating requirements. In the end it will be a waste of time.
3. Immediately ask the guy you are interested in, to send additional pictures of himself, so can make sure the ones he posted online matches the other pictures you have requested.
4. When you finally meet your cyber crush, if there is not any chemistry, move on. Don't be afraid to be honest. It's much worse in the end to waste time or lead someone on.

Dating Diary Chapter 3: Greg

I hope you guys had a great weekend. Its scary when you don't even remember what you did. That's what happens when you work through it! I wanted to keep you updated on the whole online dating thing. I took some great advice (thanks!) and didn't bother emailing anyone I "graded" lower than a 7.

The one that scored the highest was Greg (the vegan). I sent him a short-and-sweet email back (I tend to go on..and on) and we have been emailing every other day since. So far, he hasn't said anything that made me cringe, i.e.. "aiight." He's actually been really sweet and funny. About the 4th email, he mentioned his ex so I think that's actually a good sign. It makes me feel like we are getting past small talk. He has also mentioned a band that he is seeing at this bar in my old neighborhood so I'm sensing a possible date, which is awesome but horrifying also. I'm going to seriously need your help when that time comes!

At least I will have some stuff to wear. I bought so much of Sarah Jessica Parker's "Bitten" line. It is all soooo cute! The prices make H&M look expensive and the quality is even better. RUN to Steve and Barry's! I'll post pictures as soon as I can. :)

I feel sick.

I'm so mad that Paris has been dragged back to jail I can't even speak. I'm not her #1 fan, but it still isn't right. This guy, the sheriff who let her out, said it perfectly:

"The problem here is that there is a medical issue and it isn't wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse. In my opinion, justice is being served by the decision to have her serve her time at home. She would still be in the county jail if it were not for the medical advice. My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice."

Does this work?

I'm loving the Kylie for H&M turban but now sure how to rock it for...work. Should I put my bangs on? Or do I just look crazy?

Lo Siento.

One of my WORST phobias is bugs. I know most people don't like them, but for me, its a phobia. Sometimes I can't sleep. Crazy, right? A tad. Well, we have a bug problem in the apartment and I have lost, LOST, my mind. Breathe. I have done nothing but clean since the exterminator came so I haven't been online at all. I'm back-a little :). I miss posting and Glamour blogs. There's SO much to discuss. First, the unavoidable.

I still can't believe Paris is in jail. I have already posted that I think its totally extreme but now I'm just sad for her. I know, I know, its only 24 days but jail is jail and I would FREAK out. Did anyone watch the MTV Movie Awards? What Sarah Silverman said was so rude and insensitive. I get that she is supposed to be a comedienne and they can be rude but she totally kicked her when she was already down. If you didn't see it, she said something like, "To make Paris more comfortable in jail, they painted the bars to look like penis'. I'm just concerned she will crack a tooth." It makes me nauseated. I don't get why everyone thinks she's this crazy whore anyway? So she had a sex tape. Some horrible, gross, guy leaked it but no one cares about that. Drives me crazy!

Did you watch the Democratic Debates? What did you think?

I think Obama did a good job but I think he showed a lack of confidence. I very much enjoy this quote, (not from the Debates)
"Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."
"It's time to turn the page on the bitterness and bigotry that fill so much of today's LGBT rights debate. The rights of all Americans should be protected -- whether it's at work or anyplace else. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" needs to be repealed because patriotism and a sense of duty should be the key tests for military service, not sexual orientation. Civil unions should give gay couples full rights. And those who commit hate crimes should be punished no matter whether those crimes are committed on account of race, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation."
"This Pride Month, let's make our founding promise of equality a reality for every American."
My main problem with him is his somewhat lack of experience and lack of money raised. Seeing who raised what kind of money is important to see what kind of backing they have. We NEED a democrat pres so its more important to me that one wins, like it or not.

Hillary disappointed me. I actually sent an email to her camp. I disliked that she defended what Edwards called, Bush's "Bumper Sticker" agenda. Edwards is SO right and I was sad that she defended it. Still, she's winning in the race by a landslide.

Round 2 goes to Edwards. He was cute, funny, and real. His honest apology for voting for the war touched me. He praised Obama for being against the war before he was. That showed a lot of courage. He also seemed very intelligent on Iran and extremely confident.

The other guys did fine but, let's be honest here, they aren't REALLY in the race. OK, feedback ladies and gentlemen!
