Dolce Vita on the Cheap

I thought about trekking up to the new East Harlem Target to score some shoes from the Dolce Vita line "exclusively" to that location, for about 3 minutes. Considering I can walk to the Brooklyn one, I figured I'd just wait until August when they come out everywhere. Well, now we don't have to wait. The shoes are already available online. As soon as I get paid Wednesday, I'm getting the silver flats above and the boots below. What do you think of the line? Are you buying any of it?

Jury Duty Day 1

...and hopefully the last! I have a bad feeling I'm going to be picked for this jury. Hey, I'd pick me! The people in my group are ca-razy! Everyone tried to get out of it. First they said, "If anyone can't understand BASIC English get in this line." So, about 20 people line up. He's like, "YOU ALL UNDERSTOOD WHAT I SAID SO WHY ARE YOU IN LINE?" Umm, wow. I know that this is important so even though I don't want to miss work, I'm not going to lie. I feel bad for the lawyers. A girl in my group told them (and the rest of us) that her dad abuses her step-mom and there's nothing the court will do. OK...wow. Our case involves someone who was born in Russia, will anyone have a problem deciding if he is guilty? One guy is like, YES. I would decided against him if he's Russian. Great, dismissed. But the problem is that if you get dismissed for this, you don't go home. You have to wait for a different jury selection. My chances of getting out of this? Slim.

The outfits people are wearing here are horrendous. Some girls look like they're going to a club! I'm seeing a lot of neon leggings. In a courthouse? A lot of the men are in sweats looking like they just crawled out of bed. Lovely. I'll check back in later!

Love this Store: Urban Vintage

I've been to Urban Vintage about 30 times since it opened. I love it! It's a perfect addition to the neighborhood (and it's 3 blocks from me.) The food ROCKS; I had a delish whole wheat waffle with kiwi, strawberries and walnuts on Sunday and it was only about $7.00. Not to mention, the preparation of the food is impressive. We know I'm super picky, and I've loved everything I've had. As treats go, the green tea cookie is the best! And Josh loved his wheat-free apricot thump print. I have an iced tea addiction, and they will ice a million different teas, which is amazing. I'm sure they have good coffee too but I don't drink it. The girls who run the place are so cute and CRAZY nice. It's definitely not like the pretentious Brooklyn cafes I'm used to! ;)

LOVE the curtains! They just went to the garment district and bought fabric.

Oh, did I mention there's SHOPPING?!?

I need a dress for a party this weekend but since I'm broke I'm going to hit up Beacon's Closet. I love the Williamsburg location. (There's also one in Park Slope.) You can shop online now! The best part to me is grabbing a million things and trying everything on, especially since there's a lot of vintage and you never know how it fits. One of my favorite finds is this cool 90s Betsey Johnson pink dress with heels all over it for $20. What's your favorite thrift store?

Skipping the Chapel

We'll have to ask my mom for confirmation but I don't think I was ever the girl dreaming of her wedding day. At least, I don't remember ever thinking about it. Now, I'm a little obsessed but in a fashion way, I SWEAR. I don't even know if/when I want to get married. I mean, how can I get married when it's against the law for such a huge percent of our population? Ugh, stupid ignorant people. ANYWAY, Daily Candy's emails today were wedding related and spotlighted one of my favorite buildings in NYC, One Hanson Place (which happens to be walkable from my apartment.) It's the current home of the indoor Brooklyn Flea and has apartments for rent (!) I'm majorly crushing on this place. On the website, there are some amazing indoor pics of the once Williamsburg Bank. Who wants to throw a party?
