OMG of the Day: Olsens Do Jeans

MKO and Ashley can pretty much do no wrong in my book. I love their personal style, The Row, Elizabeth and James, and Olsenboye. What I'm NOT thrilled about? Their $400 jeans. COME ON. They better be the most amazing feeling, comfortable, make-me-look-like-a-size-zero, jeans. But I doubt it. Want to try them? You can get them at Barney's. And they're Style.com's Item of the Day. While I appreciate the effort and attempt at something different then the tired jegging, I think I'll pass. If you like the look, try these for $35!

2010 CFDA Awards

Who: The Council of Fashion Designers of America
What: The "Oscars of Fashion" presenting awards and scholarships
Where: Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center NYC

Womenswear Designer of the Year Marc Jacobs presented by Jessica Biel (in DVF)
Jessica is getting a little flack for this dress but I love it. I really believe a dress doesn't have to be super fitted to be incredibly chic.

Menswear Designer of the Year Rag and Bone's David Neville and Marcus Wainwright presented by Anthony Mackie
This one surprised me but in a good way. Much deserved. They are a great company and I've heard wonderful things about how they are to work with.

Accessory Designer of the Year Alexis Bittar (with Iris Apfel in Balenciaga) presented by Dakota Fanning in Marchesa.
Alexis looks the epitome of fierce. I have a few of her accessories from vintage stores and I get so many compliments. Beautiful. What do you think about Dakota Fanning's dress? I feel like we've seen it before.

Ed Westwick and Alexa Chung (in Marc Jacobs) presented the Swarovski Awards for Emerging Talent to (from left) Jason Wu for Womenswear, Richard Chai for Menswear, and Alexander Wang for Accessory
Ed is yummy. His suit fits him beautifully. Alexa's dress is awesome and the shoes? Perfection. They are so different. I want them. I love all the winners here! It almost seems like they aren't "emerging." They're there!

Anna Wintor presented Michael Kors with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. (Daughter Bee Shaffer is in Thakoon.)
Anna is just Anna but I'm loving Bee's print of that dress. And the style is amazing on her. I wish she'd done something with her hair though. I guess she's trying to do the "signature" thing like her mom. Is Kors old enough for Lifetime Achievement?

Sarah Jessica Parker honored designer and friend Alexander McQueen (wearing a dress by him.)
I'm coveting this dress and this COLOR more than anything. SJP is still the queen.

Donna Karen, wearing her own design, presented Christopher Bailey with the International Award. Bailey is seen here with Burberry's Angela Ahrendts.
At first I kind of hated Karen's dress. The color and the crazy amount of material is growing on me. I'm really happy Chrisopher Bailey won this award. He SO deserves it.

Fashion Director of Vogue, Tonne Goodman, won the Eleanor Lambert Award presented by Caroline Kennedy. She wore Michael Kors.
This isn't a big surprise to me that she won but still nice, as is her ensemble.

Brooke Shields, in J. Mendel, presented Paper Magazine's founding editor and publisher Kim Hastreiter the Eugenia Sheppard Award for excellence in journalism.
A self proclaimed "outsider," Kim is one of the most talented, and cool, people in the business. I would give my left leg to work with her. Brooke looks fine.

Isabella Rossellini, here with Francois Nars, presented Iman with the Fashion Icon award.
POWER COUPLE. Enough said.

Doutzen Kroes, in Michael Kors, presented the Popular Vote award to Ralph Lauren.
Really? Most popular vote? Not very exciting. Doutzen is though. She ROCKS. Look at her body!

Some of my favorites were also there:

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, in their line The Row, with Sasha Pivovarova, also in The Row.

Zac Posen with Devon Aoki in a dress by the designer.

Lara Stone in Calvin Klein Collection with Francisco Costa.
Lara just became the new Kate Moss as the exclusive face of Calvin Klein!!

Uber-hot Zachary Quinto with Simon Spurr wearing a suit by the designer.

Diane Von Furstenburg, in her own design
She told the audience, "The CFDA premotes diversity and health. I beg you to remember that when you're planning your next show." Love her.

The Rodarte girls Kate and Laura Mulleavy

Blake Mycoskie, wearing the cutest Toms, and John Whitledge.

Who is your best dressed? I vote Doutzen and SJP!

What's Your Airport Style?

I'm flying to visit my mom in St. Louis tomorrow and every time I fly, I wonder what to wear on the plane. Should I be comfortable and sort of cute in Lululemon yoga pants, Nike's, a tee shirt and a cardi? Or should I wear a dress with leggings and sensible heels with a boyfriend blazer? I wish I could look like this! Skinny jeans are out for me. They're not comfortable enough for a flight. Same with an outfit that has too much going on; I'm anxious and claustrophobic on the plane as it is. Derek Blasberg, Editor-at-Large of Style.com, has written a book called Classy, which devotes a whole chapter to airport style. (I have opinions on the book as a whole which is for a post to come.) You can read what he says in the picture above. I agree with most things, but some are unrealistic. There's no way I'm wearing knee high leather boots and carrying seriously ouch-worthy bags.

For me, it mostly depends on the time of day I'm traveling. 6 am flight? Yoga pants win. Since I don't have to leave until 10 am tomorrow, I should put a little effort into it. I can't get too dressy because I finally bought a functional, not very cute, backpack. It will just be for traveling! I'm ordering a much cuter one for every day use. I feel like a big dork in it but at least I'm (mostly) neck pain free!

I'm thinking: My cotton hunter green wrap dress, black leggings, gold Toms, black boyfriend blazer, glasses (my contacts get uncomfortable from plane AC,) and I'll blow dry my hair and bangs and NOT wear a headband. Since my mom is the first person I'll see when I get off the plane, and she's uber critical of my look, (grrr) I'll probably wear my bangs to the side because she hates them forward! Thanks, Mom! OK, I'm rambling about my hair. Tell me what you wear when you fly! Do you think it's important to look classy? Or is that too old-fashioned?

Natalie Portman at LAX
She looks so comfortable!

Jessica Simpson looks really cute. It's pushing me to dress up.

No one does casual and cool like Jennifer Aniston.

Halle Berry rocking something very similar to what I'm thinking.

Camilla Belle has great personal style.

I know Ashley Olsen looks a little crazy, but I really love it. Anyone know who the pants are by?
