Is that really workout wear? X Factor USA judge Cheryl Cole visits celeb gym

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Jumping for joy? Cheryl Cole was seen leaving Tracy Anderson's gym in L.A. yesterday wearing unusual workout attire and performing a number of bizarre movements as she left the gym

She has just landed one of the biggest gigs in showbusiness as judge on the U.S. version of the X Factor so Cheryl Cole could be forgiven for jumping for joy.

But as she left celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson’s gym yesterday she was quite literally doing just that - which made for a bizarre sight indeed especially because of what she was wearing.

The petite singer, who is said to have asked her brother Garry to move to America with her, ran down the steps of the gym in Studio City and performed a series of jumps pulling her knees up high to finish off her workout.

While her warmdown exercises may have seemed slightly unorthodox her clothing for the gym was much more curious.

Cheryl had chosen a pair of camel coloured pants and a striped navy jumper, which seemed an odd choice for the gym session and the effects of the workout could clearly be seen on the top which appeared drenched in sweat.

In fact the jumper was the same one Cheryl had worn during her flight from London to LA on Friday.

What are you wearing? The singer raced down the steps of the gym before jumping into the air. Cheryl had decided to wear a striped navy jump a pair of camel coloured baggy trousers and a pair of aviators

While her black Nike trainers appeared the most suitable item of clothing the singer finished off her look with a pair of aviator sunglasses and carried a bottle of Fiji water to keep her hydrated.

It appears Cheryl has enlisted the help of the personal trainer to get her L.A. ready and Tracy’s client list includes Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez who swear by her methods, so it comes as no surprise that the Girls Aloud singer has turned to Anderson.

Cheryl arrived in America on Friday with her brother Garry by her side and has asked for his support as she begins work on the U.S. version of the X Factor show.

Hello USA! Cheryl arrived into LAX on Friday with her brother Garry by her side to ensure she doesn't get homesick. The auditions for the show start today

The 23-year-old will be living with the singer at her beachside hotel so she doesn’t miss home too much.

Cheryl has admitted: ‘I’m a really homely person. I miss home when I’m only away for a few days,’ The Sunday Mirror reported.

The Geordie singer’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday alongside Cowell and LA Reid as a judge on the U.S. version of the show – ending months of speculation.

Big shot: Cheryl has been given a £1.2million deal as a judge on the X Factor but is said to have been given just a year to make an impression on the American audience

Bye Bye U.K.: Cheryl was seen at London Heathrow on Friday in her striped navy jumper, which she wore to the gym yesterday, and a pair of beige trousers ahead of her flight to LAX

The singer has landed a one-year, £1.2 million ‘make or break’ contract to appear on the new show and has a year to really make a name for herself stateside.

Cole’s deal is actually for three years – but producers have written in a get-out clause so they can dump her if she fails to win over US viewers.

There has already been some concern that her Geordie accent could prove baffling for the Americans but Cowell has said that Fox bosses back her all along.

Cole – who has been a judge on the British version of the show since2008 – said she ‘couldn’t wait to get started’ on the transatlantic version. ‘I absolutely love it in the UK and with the talent they have in America I am sure we’re going to find someone very special.'

It's official! Cheryl Cole WILL be a judge on the U.S. version of X Factor

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

I'm in! Cheryl Cole is excited to be heading stateside for the U.S. version of the show where she will sit next to Simon Cowell and LA Reid on the judging panel

After months of speculation the wait is finally over it- it has been confirmed that Cheryl Cole WILL be appearing as a judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor.

In a statement released today the British singer is confirmed as a judge on the talent show - joining Simon Cowell and Antonio 'L.A.' Reid on judging panel.

Cheryl, 27, has already voiced her excitement about the new role searching for the talent America has to offer and said she is ready to battle it out against Simon on the first series of the U.S. show.

Cheryl said: 'I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor. I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special.'

She added: 'I can’t wait to get started. I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me.'

'He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.'

Ready for battle: Cheryl can't wait to get the first series of the American version of the X Factor show underway and is looking to beat Simon Cowell as she has in the U.K. show

Simon, who has championed the Geordie singer in the U.S, said: I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with.'

He added: 'She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.'

Today's announcement ends months of speculation over whether Cheryl's Newcastle accent would prove problematic for viewers across the pond and Fox bosses have sang the Parachute singer's praises.

Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company said: 'She’s an incredibly talented artist and performer, as well as a style icon, and she has that special charisma that draws in fans around the world.'

'Cheryl’s charm and chemistry with Simon have been a key part of the overwhelming success of ‘The X Factor’ in the U.K., and we can’t wait to welcome her to the U.S. on our air.'

Executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said: 'As a young artist whose talent show discovery led to almost immediate stardom, Cheryl’s career exemplifies the promise of The X Factor.'

Great chemistry: Fox bosses have praised Cheryl's talent as a judge and have said America will love the way she interacts with Simon Cowell

'Her empathy and passion for identifying and nurturing undiscovered talent has made her a huge hit with British audiences, and I have no doubt America will fall in love with her beauty, her accent and her incredible chemistry with Simon Cowell.'

Cheryl has proved a skilled judge winning the U.K. version of the show twice first in 2008 with Alexandra Burke and in 2009 with Joe McElderry.

While many were worried about her lack of profile in the U.S. it has also been reported that her son Parachute will be featured on the hit musical show Glee - who have covered hit songs by Rihanna, Madonna and Britney Spears.

The confirmation about her X Factor role comes just days before auditions are held this Sunday, May 8, in specially built high-definition recording studios in Honolulu, HI; Phoenix, AZ; Nashville, TN; Anchorage, AK; Kansas City, KS; and Denver, CO

Auditions will continue in Dallas, TX, on Thursday, May 26.

The U.S. version of the X Factor is set to be the biggest and best yet with the winner scooping a recording contract worth $5 million.

Is Cheryl preparing to forgive Ashley after visit to his mother?

By Lydia Warren

Close ties: Cheryl Cole visited the mother of her former husband Ashley Cole on Easter Sunday

Cheryl Cole spent Easter Sunday with the mother of her former husband Ashley, fuelling speculation that she may be prepared to forgive the errant footballer.

Her visit to Sue Cole’s home came to light after a fan who lives nearby posted a photograph of herself with Cheryl on her Twitter page.

The youngster, named only as Yasemin, also wrote that the singer had ‘popped round to say hi’ to her former mother-in-law.

The Daily Mail has been told that Chelsea and England defender Cole, 30, was not at the house in Chigwell, Essex, at the time.

But his ex-wife and his mother are understood to have remained close despite the high-profile divorce last year.

Cheryl, 27, was visiting her former mother-in-law before jetting out to the U.S. in the coming days to begin her role as a judge on the American version of The X Factor.

The way they were: Ashley and Cheryl Cole on her 25th birthday shortly before they split

However, her PR firm – Supersonic PR – were quick to quash speculation that the trip to Chigwell could herald a reconciliation with Cole.

The couple, who married in July 2006, separated in February last year after a series of women came forward claiming to have had flings with the footballer. They were divorced in October.

But in a TV interview with Piers Morgan later that month a tearful Cheryl admitted that a part of her would always love her former husband.

Cheryl Cole's hair reaches dizzying new heights as she fronts a hairspray campaign

By Daily Mail Reporter

The bigger the better: Cheryl Cole sports a huge bouffant quiff as she fronts a new campaign to celebrate 50 years of L'Oreal Elnett hairspray

It's the hairspray that the makers claim can be easily brushed out of your hair.

But we think that Cheryl Cole might have a job on her hands trying to get a comb through that.

The Girls Aloud star shows off huge bouffant hair for a new ad campaign for L'Oreal's Elnett hairspray which is celebrating its 50th birthday.

The singer, 27, looks every inch the rock 'n' roll chick, her dark locks backcombed and lifted up into the funky style.

Described by Elnett as the 'rock it' look, the quiff is lit by the gold background as she turns her head to the side, showing off the tattoo on her neck.

There are three other styles - the 'glam it' and 'work it' - which Cheryl adopts for the campaign.

Earlier this month, a candid picture of the star was posted on Twitter by her PR company as she filmed the ad campaign.

Anyone got a comb? Cheryl Cole's PR company posted up a picture of her having a seriously bad hair day as she was being styled for a new L'Oreal advert

Cheryl was signed as the face of L'Oreal in 2009 and fronted a couple of campaigns including one for Elvive shampoo and Glam Shine lipgloss.

Meanwhile, Cheryl continues to try and crack America as she waits to see if the US X Factor job will be hers.

But her hopes were dashed this week when she was not only snubbed by Jennifer Hudson, who mistook her for singer Sheryl Crow, but she was described by an influential U.S. blogger as ‘a Brit singer convicted of assault’ and referred to as ‘this Cole woman’.

A tough one to crack: According to an influential showbiz blogger, Cheryl will have trouble trying to impress the Americans

Nikki Finke, editor of Deadline Hollywood said Cheryl is a ‘shoo-in’ for the U.S. version of the show alongside Paula Abdul – but she isn’t holding back on the fact she isn’t convinced by the Geordie singer.

She said none of the contestants will 'have a clue' about her and then detailed Cheryl’s ‘rough’ history including her conviction for assault and subsequent community service.

But boss Simon Cowell is still backing her and told Finke: ‘I’d only met her literally once when I offered her the job on X Factor.

'I thought she was bright, cute, knew what she was talking about, ambitious. And you meet someone special a few times in your life.. And this girl is special.’

Stub it out, Cheryl! Miss Cole told to give up smoking to help pursue her X Factor dream in the USA

By Daily Mail Reporter

Puffing away: Cheryl Cole, seen here having a cigarette break during a break from X Factor boot camp in 2009, has been told to quit smoking if she wants to crack the U.S.

They're proving to be her crutch as she makes the 'stressful' move to Los Angeles to pursue her American career.

But Cheryl Cole has been told to quit the cigarettes or she will never be understood over there.

The pop star is trying to land a job as a judge on the U.S. X Factor and has spent the past two weeks having elocution classes in Los Angeles to soften her Geordie twang.

But her voice coach has told Cheryl, 27, to kick her 20-a-day habit if she wants any chance of cracking America, according to The Sun today.

A source told the paper: 'Cheryl's teacher has advised her to stop smoking.

'But she says the move to LA and X Factor job is stressful enough without having to try and quit the cigs on top.

'Voice coaches are determined to make her sound more American but in a natural way. Basically just so she can be understood.'

Miss Cole is believed to have tried to stop smoking last year but failed, admitting: 'I miss smoking when I stop. It's not cool to say so, but I do.'

During breaks in filming the X Factor, she and boss Simon Cowell have been seen disappearing off together for a cigarette.

Yesterday it was reported that U.S. X factor producer LA Reid - the only person officially announced so far as being on the show - let the news slip that Miss Cole is joining the panel before it could be revealed by Cowell.

Cowell's official spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the news, giving MailOnline an official 'no comment'.

Is that a double chin? Cheryl Cole is looking healthy again after bouncing back from malaria

By Daily Mail Reporter

Is that a double chin? Cheryl Cole was looking noticeably fuller-faced at the Prince's Trust Awards last week

With a fuller figure on display, it seems that Cheryl Cole is finally back to health months after beating the potentially lethal disease malaria.

The 27-year-old star, who is poised to join Simon Cowell on the American X Factor within weeks, flaunted her size 8 figure as she turned up to The Prince’ s Trust Celebrate Success Awards in London last week.

The petite brunette looked fit and well in a floor-length peach-coloured Sass & Bide gown as she joined Prince Charles at the event, a marked difference from her tiny figure last year.

The singer has been in Los Angeles recording new music for the past month – and insisted that she had not been sucked in by any of the latest fitness fads in Hollywood.

In refreshingly honest comments, Mrs Cole told Glamour magazine: ‘I don’t have a regime that I regularly stick to. I honestly don’t have one.

‘But the TV out here is non-stop with adverts for the latest health craze.

'People give themselves too much of a hard time with stuff like that – just do it if you want to.’

Filling out: Cheryl is now looking much healthier compared to her skinny appearance at the Glamour Awards last June (right)

The star told how she is now planning to cut back on her work in a bid to look after herself after being told by doctors that she could die from her bout of malaria last summer.

She added: ‘I really plan to not plan. I’ve had my life mapped out for the best part of 10 years, so for now I just want to enjoy myself and live in the moment.’

Mrs Cole is now waiting to see if she will join Cowell, 51, on X Factor USA, and is a favourite to join him on the talent show, alongside music executive LA Reid and Paula Abdul, with chart sensation Nicki Minaj also in the frame for a judging role.

In the interview with Glamour, she also delivered a defiant retort to the American TV executives who hinted that she should lose her regional brogue, and even suggested elocution lessons, if she wanted a job as a judge on The X Factor USA.

Producers have expressed their concern that viewers would struggle to understand her Geordie accent on the show, which is due to be screened this autumn.

She said: 'My accent's going nowhere. Absolutely nowhere.

Svengali Simon Cowell has said he wants her on board but show executives have expressed concerns that the singer does not have a high enough profile in the U.S - and there has also been some anguish about whether viewers will understand her accent.

Cheryl Cole's curves are back! Singer is looking healthier than ever as she poses for Glamour magazine photos

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Glowing with health: Cheryl Cole looked better than she has done in ages as she posed for stunning pictures in the new issue of Glamour

She had a difficult 2010 with the collapse of her marriage to Ashley Cole and a battle against life-threatening malaria.

But now Cheryl Cole appears to be back to her old self - and even seems to have gained a little weight in all the right places.

The Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge - who has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles recently - looked healthier than she has done in ages as she posed for some stunning photos for the latest issue of Glamour magazine.

Defiant: The singer hit back at U.S TV executives who suggested she should tone down her Geordie accent for the U.S version of The X Factor

In one photo, Cheryl - dressed in a pink floral playsuit - is positively glowing as she lies back on a stretch of grass.

And another black and white snap shows her riding a bike - while the cover sees her showing off her curves as she poses in a fitted white dress.

The full interview with Cheryl appears in the May issue of Glamour, which is out now

Cheryl is currently waiting to hear whether she has landed a job as a judge on the U.S X Factor.

Svengali Simon Cowell has said he wants her on board but show executives have expressed concerns that the singer does not have a high enough profile in the U.S - and there has also been some anguish about whether viewers will understand her accent
However she dropped her strongest hints yet in the magazine that she would be overlooked for the job - by admitting her career diary was empty.

'I really plan to not plan,' Cheryl said. 'I've had my life mapped out for the best part of ten years, so for now I just want to enjoy myself and live for the moment.'

‘I also miss British chocolate, American chocolate is awful! It’s like wax. I have to get some Dairy Milk or Galaxy brought out. As for their KitKats… I don’t know how they can even call them KitKats.’

The full interview is in the May 2011 issue of Glamour, which is out now.
