Think much of yourself then? Madonna cycles around London in tracksuit branded with The Queen

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Modest star? Madonna was spotted riding around central London on her bicycle with The Queen branded on the back of her jumper

Madonna isn’t known for her modesty but the music legend might have taken her ego a tad too far with her latest jumper branded with The Queen.

The 52-year-old was spotted riding around London on her bicycle with the graffiti lettering drawn across her back.

Despite the warm spring weather, the Material Girl star cycled around in a black tracksuit and matching baseball cap as she hid beneath her sunglasses.

The previous day Madge was again on her bike as she rode to Abbey Road Recording Studios.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lloyd Webber has reportedly been trying to nab the singer to star in a remake of the 1950s hit Sunset Boulevard for the big screen.

The pair worked together on the cinematic adaptation of Evita, and Lloyd Webber told Piers Morgan in his ITV interview that he has her in mind for his next project.

But the West End legend said he hasn’t heard back from Madonna yet, regarding her potential role as Norma Desmond in the production.

Lloyd Webber remade the classic film into a musical in the 1990s and now wants to turn the production into a film.

He told Piers Morgan: ‘I tell you who I would love to see play Sunset Boulevard. You know who would make a great Norma Desmond on screen? Madonna.

‘She’s the right age. I’ve not got through to her. She hasn’t taken my call.’

Perhaps the composer might be able to track her down while she’s in London at the moment though, he might just need to get on his bicycle to bump into her.

Madonna is currently directing a historical biopic about the life of Wallis Simpson, called W.E.

It will be a two-tiered romantic drama focusing on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a marries woman and a Russian security guard.

Madonna's African school dream left in ruins as £2.4m is frittered on luxuries

By DAVID GARDNER IN LOS ANGELES

Breaking ground: Madonna seen in 2009 turning the soil for the foundation of the multi-million dollar girls' school in Chinkota, Malawi which has now been abandoned

Madonna's dream of building a school for girls in poverty-stricken Malawi has collapsed after £2.4million was frittered away without a brick being laid.

Funds raised by the singer from celebrity friends such as Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow were squandered on luxuries including golf course membership, and a car and driver for the school’s director, according to details of an audit revealed yesterday.

Madonna also plunged her own money into the school project which was going to cost £10million but which has now been officially abandoned because of the financial scandal.

The charity Raising Malawi, co-founded by Madonna and once run by the boyfriend of her former personal trainer, was behind the plan to build the academy.

But its board of directors has been ousted and replaced by a caretaker board which includes the singer and her manager, according to the New York Times.

Madonna was not implicated in the financial scandal and was not on the original board.

The newspaper claimed yesterday that auditors called in to examine the charity’s finances found that the budget overran by hundreds of thousands of pounds because of ‘outlandish expenditures’ that also included design fees to architects, salaries, cars, office space and free staff housing – all for a school that was never built.

In one case, two cars were bought for employees that hadn’t even been hired. Some of the £2.4million still hasn’t been accounted for, said the audit.

The academy for 400 girls was supposed to be the jewel in the crown of the charitable foundation’s work in Malawi.

Madonna, 52, who adopted a daughter, Mercy, from Malawi last year and a son, David, in 2008, said she was proud of other work the charity has carried out in the African country, but admitted being disappointed at the school setback.

‘I’m frustrated that our education work has not moved forward in a faster way,’ she told the newspaper. She added that she was still determined to use the charity to continue helping to feed, educate and provide medical care in the country where about 500,000 children have lost a parent to Aids.

Madonna co-founded Raising Malawi in 2006 with the Los Angeles-based Kabbalah Centre International, a Jewish mystical movement with which she has been associated for years.

Madonna for Forever 21, I mean, Macy's

There are a few things wrong with Madonna's Material Girl line for Macy's.
1. Isn't M supposed to be ahead of the curve? Why does this look so Forever 21?
2. The lace biker shorts. Shudder.
3. Little J is the face of the line.

The postive?
1. Lola is blogging. (Why isn't she the face?)
2. The cowboy shirt and the bags are pretty cute. So are the pants.
3. Everything is under $40 for when it goes out of style next week.

Will you guys be buying clothes from Material Girl? I think it will pretty well. It has to be better than her H&M line. Silk jumpsuits in the clearance rack, anyone?
