Revisiting Spring '11: Part 2

Yesterday we explored brights with neutrals thanks to Fendi's Spring RTW show. Today, I'm obsessing over 3.1 Phillip Lim's sporty/sexy collection. No actual sports activity required, I promise.

The pants are an amazing alternative to denim made extra-sporty with a contrasting racing stripe. This is definitely something everyone can wear-with a cami underneath to keep the look decidedly nipple-free.

(Or see my FN article for scoop on flatforms!)
(Add stripes for a cool DIY project.)

The NY Life: Of an Intern

You know how sometimes, you just have a DAY? Yup, that was me last week. I started back to school which means 8 AM classes every day and work until 8 PM. Ugh. Wednesday I had class from 8-9:15 and I had a phone interview with a designer for FN at 9:45. Should be enough time to get from my school in downtown Brooklyn to midtown east but the trains did not work in my favor. I got out at 42nd street at 9:43.

Obviously, I panicked and since I still have this stupid boot on, I can't run and the office is a good 10 minute walk for a normal person. So, I looked around for a Starbucks (it's midtown-there should be a million!) so I could sit and write since I'm obviously not planning on recording it anymore. Of course, I found the one Starbucks that doesn't have seating! I was running around as quick as I could because I don't want to be late for my call!

Where did I sit? On the floor in Grand Central. Gross. And I had a birthday party at night so I'm wearing a fancy red dress that is now covered in dust and crap from the floor. I called the designer (a legwear CEO) and she didn't answer! I leave a message and wait on the floor for a little. A cop comes over and says that I can't sit there. Seriously?!?! Do you see what a mess I am? I get up and start to walk to the office holding my pen (Hello Kitty-all I had in my bag) and my notebook just in case she calls and I'm all tangled in my necklace so I pull on it to get it right and it BREAKS.

OK, no big deal it's from H&M, but the beads go all in my bra and down my dress. I'm in front of Grand Central with beads falling out of the bottom of my dress. I'm trying to get them all out and hustle to the office. Then, a woman stops me in front of the office to tell me that my dress is up in the back. I had just flashed 3rd Avenue for 15 minutes.

I'll spare the rest of the details, other than to say that I'm sure my co-workers thought I was nuts. The first time I went to the bathroom, beads came flying out of the stall.

I'll try to blog more so we can laugh, instead of me crying, at my crazy days!

I'm Back/Emmy Awards 2010

I'm so sorry I haven't been blogging! I have emails from you guys being like, where did you go? My life just got so busy that the posts I did write felt forced and lame. I suck. The good news is that there are good things happening! The up-and-down family stuff is currently swinging up, and I have an awesome internship! It's with Footwear News, a Conde Nast trade publication, and I'm having a blast. They are letting me work on so many projects and I'm learning a ton. Everyone is crazy nice and helpful. It's a great work environment and I'm thankful to be there. I'm working on the legwear issue so stay tuned!

What better way to start blogging again than a Red Carpet?! I'm a bit obsessed with them. Here are my favorite looks. Am I missing anyone that you loved? What do you think of my choices?

Betty White! 88 has never looked so good.

I usually hate white on the red carpet but Rose Bryne looks like a goddess in Gucci.

I LOVE Jayma Mays hair and navy Burberry dress.

January Jones might be the DULLEST person on TV (and on my favorite show) but she is the best dressed person, maybe ever. I'm obsessed with everything about the Versace dress and undone hair.

Best dressed Glee!! This Carolina Herrera dress is beautiful. Lace is so fashion forward.

Tami Taylor, aka Connie Britton, UNFORTUNATELY lost the Emmy but she won in Burberry.

E!'s Fashion Police could not be more wrong picking Anna Paquin as worst dressed. What are they thinking? This McQueen dress is fab and she looks amazing in it. And of course, Vampire Bill looks handsome as ever.

I love The Good Wife and this picture just makes me happy. Go Archie Panjabi!

I'm not a sequin girl but Heather Morris in Ina Soltani is probably my best dressed pick. The black sash makes it perfect! And the hair and make-up: sigh. Love.

Is there anything Zac Posen does that I don't like? Christina Hendricks kills it again. The cut on this is ridiculous. In a good way. I know the sleeves are a little weird but I forgive her for such a perfect fit.

Poor Elizabeth Moss. No matter how fierce her dress is, and this Donna Karen is, her Peggy Olsen hair follows her everywhere.

LOVE this couple and Emily Blunt's Dior dress.

This makes me happy for two reasons: 1. Vintage lace from the Way We Wore. Awesome. 2. Maura Tienry is kicking cancer's ass.
