Do or Don't: The FitFlip Clog

I can be a tiny bit, ahem, critical of some "fashions." Shearling Ugg boots, flip flops, summer scarves, exposed bra straps, they all make me shudder. In this August's Elle Magazine, FitFlop's new Happy Gogh clogs are featured having just arrived via London. I think regular FitFlops are super ugly but I'm sort of liking these. What do you think? Too orthopedic? I bet they feel amazing on my painful feet. They're being sold at stylish store Kirna Zabete in NYC. I'm going to go try them on. Will let you know if they're comfortable!

Happy USA/Twilight's Worst Hair

I'm feeling quite down today and I usually try not to blog when I'm feeling like this as I'm not really a "misery loves company" kind of girl. My neck is having a rough couple of days so I'm stuck in the apartment missing the 4th of July festivities. On one hand it's WAY too hot and fireworks are really for when you have kids and listening to my neighbors sing country (?) music is killing me. And the smell of meat grilling? Vomit. On the other hand, my roommates are going to a fireworks party at Chelsea Piers which sounds different and fun and there's also a midtown party inside that sounds enjoyable. Instead I'm sitting here eating a Skinny Cow ice cream cone watching Remember Me (which is depressing me more) and reading the Sunday Times. Oh, and contemplating why Summit couldn't afford better wigs for Eclipse.

Seriously, it's a bit ridiculous.

I know Nikki Reed said that she dyed her real hair in the first movie but it was so horrible and uncomfortable that she wore wigs for the next two. You know what? I've gone platinum blonde too and other than a little breakage, it's not that bad and wait, how much money is she getting paid for this? The wig doesn't look much better then my Sookie Halloween one which was literally plastic.

Kristen's, below, isn't as bad but it still look fake. It's WAY too long (Bella is not fussy enough for super long hair) and too one color.

Jackson Rathbone (in the middle) has the worst of all. What IS this mess?? I mean, what are they thinking? He's sort of cute in real life but looks terrible as Jasper.

Last but definitely not least, is Ashley Greene's unfortunate bob. I know Alice is supposed to be all cute and spunky but I think they could have gone with a pixie cut over this mess.

Aside from the hair, I did love the movie! It had some campy moments ("I AM hotter then you") and we kept feeling like the gorgeous Xavier Samuel (below, left) was about to break into song a la West Side Story (OK that would've been pretty amazing.)

Hope you all have better 4th of July plans! Go see Eclipse. ;)

What's Your Airport Style?

I'm flying to visit my mom in St. Louis tomorrow and every time I fly, I wonder what to wear on the plane. Should I be comfortable and sort of cute in Lululemon yoga pants, Nike's, a tee shirt and a cardi? Or should I wear a dress with leggings and sensible heels with a boyfriend blazer? I wish I could look like this! Skinny jeans are out for me. They're not comfortable enough for a flight. Same with an outfit that has too much going on; I'm anxious and claustrophobic on the plane as it is. Derek Blasberg, Editor-at-Large of Style.com, has written a book called Classy, which devotes a whole chapter to airport style. (I have opinions on the book as a whole which is for a post to come.) You can read what he says in the picture above. I agree with most things, but some are unrealistic. There's no way I'm wearing knee high leather boots and carrying seriously ouch-worthy bags.

For me, it mostly depends on the time of day I'm traveling. 6 am flight? Yoga pants win. Since I don't have to leave until 10 am tomorrow, I should put a little effort into it. I can't get too dressy because I finally bought a functional, not very cute, backpack. It will just be for traveling! I'm ordering a much cuter one for every day use. I feel like a big dork in it but at least I'm (mostly) neck pain free!

I'm thinking: My cotton hunter green wrap dress, black leggings, gold Toms, black boyfriend blazer, glasses (my contacts get uncomfortable from plane AC,) and I'll blow dry my hair and bangs and NOT wear a headband. Since my mom is the first person I'll see when I get off the plane, and she's uber critical of my look, (grrr) I'll probably wear my bangs to the side because she hates them forward! Thanks, Mom! OK, I'm rambling about my hair. Tell me what you wear when you fly! Do you think it's important to look classy? Or is that too old-fashioned?

Natalie Portman at LAX
She looks so comfortable!

Jessica Simpson looks really cute. It's pushing me to dress up.

No one does casual and cool like Jennifer Aniston.

Halle Berry rocking something very similar to what I'm thinking.

Camilla Belle has great personal style.

I know Ashley Olsen looks a little crazy, but I really love it. Anyone know who the pants are by?

I Can't Get You Out of My Head

When I need, OK want, something I get a little crazy about it. I look everywhere until I find as close to what's in my mind as possible. (When I'm buying presents for people, I get EXTRA crazy.) Of course, I'm usually disappointed because what's in my head I can't ever find (or it's majorly out of my price range.) But once in a while, I see something and I'm like YES EXACTLY. Like these new Rachel Comey backpacks. They are still WAY too much $$ for me but I'll have it for, like, ever right? There are more but these are my favs!
