I'm Back/Emmy Awards 2010

I'm so sorry I haven't been blogging! I have emails from you guys being like, where did you go? My life just got so busy that the posts I did write felt forced and lame. I suck. The good news is that there are good things happening! The up-and-down family stuff is currently swinging up, and I have an awesome internship! It's with Footwear News, a Conde Nast trade publication, and I'm having a blast. They are letting me work on so many projects and I'm learning a ton. Everyone is crazy nice and helpful. It's a great work environment and I'm thankful to be there. I'm working on the legwear issue so stay tuned!

What better way to start blogging again than a Red Carpet?! I'm a bit obsessed with them. Here are my favorite looks. Am I missing anyone that you loved? What do you think of my choices?

Betty White! 88 has never looked so good.

I usually hate white on the red carpet but Rose Bryne looks like a goddess in Gucci.

I LOVE Jayma Mays hair and navy Burberry dress.

January Jones might be the DULLEST person on TV (and on my favorite show) but she is the best dressed person, maybe ever. I'm obsessed with everything about the Versace dress and undone hair.

Best dressed Glee!! This Carolina Herrera dress is beautiful. Lace is so fashion forward.

Tami Taylor, aka Connie Britton, UNFORTUNATELY lost the Emmy but she won in Burberry.

E!'s Fashion Police could not be more wrong picking Anna Paquin as worst dressed. What are they thinking? This McQueen dress is fab and she looks amazing in it. And of course, Vampire Bill looks handsome as ever.

I love The Good Wife and this picture just makes me happy. Go Archie Panjabi!

I'm not a sequin girl but Heather Morris in Ina Soltani is probably my best dressed pick. The black sash makes it perfect! And the hair and make-up: sigh. Love.

Is there anything Zac Posen does that I don't like? Christina Hendricks kills it again. The cut on this is ridiculous. In a good way. I know the sleeves are a little weird but I forgive her for such a perfect fit.

Poor Elizabeth Moss. No matter how fierce her dress is, and this Donna Karen is, her Peggy Olsen hair follows her everywhere.

LOVE this couple and Emily Blunt's Dior dress.

This makes me happy for two reasons: 1. Vintage lace from the Way We Wore. Awesome. 2. Maura Tienry is kicking cancer's ass.

I'm Obsessed: Full Minis

As much as I love a full mini, I feel they are much better suited for Fall/Winter. I can't wait to pair any of these below, with:
1. a white tank, black blazer, tights and sky high platforms
2. fitted tee, long boyfriend cardigan, girly socks, oxfords
3. fitted turtleneck, ribbed tights, flat knee high boots

How would you wear your mini?

Are You Slight, Demi, or Bold?

Even when I was a size 0 (ahem, a while ago) jeans were annoying to shop for. No matter what my size, I always have wider hips so trying to find denim that hugs my curves without the dreaded gap is a challenge. I recently saw the Levi's ad: "All Asses Were Not Created Equal." Amazing. They have not one "curvy" size (a la the Gap) but THREE: Slight Curve is for girls with narrower hips and a flat butt; Demi Curve has a more balanced proportion;
Bold Curve (me!) is for girls with a very defined hip, waist, and butt. The best part? They are higher in the back to prevent gaping (and butt-cracking.) In 5 washes and prices below $70, I'll definitely be forgoing my dresses this fall-at least for one day a week.

Mad Men Sundays: WWJD

Lately I've been thinking as I get dressed, What Would Joan Do?

Redheads can wear red. Belt your waist no matter what. Confidence is key.

Matching eye shadow and a dress CAN be chic, especially when everything else is neutral.

Covered up can still be sexy! Use a long necklace or dressy scarf to add dimension and take eyes to your waist, the smallest part of your body.

Joan is a strong woman who kills them with kindness on her way to the top. When Don starts his own company, Joan becomes office manager and you see in episode one that she RUNS the place. Having my own curves, I can definitely take fashion ideas from the Queen Bee of Mad Men.

Vera Wang is the Queen

Caitlin is engaged! I'm so happy for her. I'm not sure if I want to get married, at least until everyone can, but I do know my where and wear! Celeb relationships bore me to death but their weddings are spectacular. This weekend was all about Chelsea Clinton and Alicia Keys.

This picture makes me smile.

Gorge!! My only complaint? WAY too much make-up.

Chelsea and Marc Mezvinsky had the most beautiful wedding. Her dress is Vera Wang and I love it, don't you? That waist-sash makes her body look amazing.

The pre-wedding party: don't you think this is the best Hillary has looked? AND the look on Bill's face? So heartwarming.

I'm a big fan of the back of dresses. Alicia's Vera Wang dress is stunning on her and I love that you can see the baby bump!

Vera is a genius because she's able to create 2 different dresses that seem to match their personalities. This one is SO Alicia.

So cute! Swizz Beatz is A+ in Tom Ford.

Who's your favorite celeb wedding?

When Life Throws You Curveballs

"You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity." -Epicurious

It's hard for me to talk about things.
Sometimes I want to talk.
Sometimes I don't.

I can't let difficulties keep me from living.
I can't let sad situations keep me from doing things I love.

Family isn't always fun.
It definitely isn't easy.
Sometimes it seems impossible.

Happiness is:
Seeing others' joy.
A good night's sleep.
Knowing you're doing the absolute best you can.
