Get Your Clothes in the Game

Other then David Beckham’s Armani underwear ads, sports and fashion don’t often go hand in hand. For Spring 2010, they blend together to create different and fresh looks. Fashionable active wear ruled the runway with cropped harem sweat pants and big shoulders taking center stage. Alexander Wang showed sweatshirt dresses with leather shoulders, evoking high school Letterman jackets, but with the addition of sexy cut outs. Wang said before his show, "We want to create clothes that are timeless and classic. Our girl wants investment pieces." He gave AW girls classics but with a twist. Emilio Pucci’s skintight scuba diver mini dresses evoked the colors of the sea. Alexandre Herchcovitch took the trend more literally with racing striped tunics and a leather clutch that looks just like a football. Hermes sweat headbands and Thakoon lycra leggings are decidedly chic with heels and a blazer a la Molly Ringwald in the 80s. Make-up is minimal and hair is messy “school girl” with thick side braids. In the stores, Bebe’s popular PH8 line sells sexy racer back tanks, streamlined hoodies, and fashionable fanny packs. No actual sports activity required.
